Baseball Recap: Mater Dei Catholic Comes Up Short

Mater Dei Catholic lost against Grossmont back in February of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grossmont Foothillers.

Mater Dei Catholic got a good showing from Christian Jimenez, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Jimenez posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Mater Dei Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaij Ordaz, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

Mater Dei Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Grossmont, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mater Dei Catholic will take on Vista at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Grossmont, they will face off against Westview at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
