Baseball Game Preview: Pittsfield Generals vs. Northampton Blue Devils

The Pittsfield Generals will take on the Northampton Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pittsfield has five straight victories, Northampton has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Pittsfield barely beat Minnechaug Regional the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Generals blew past the Falcons 11-1 on Monday. Fans of the Generals have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Meanwhile, Northampton scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Chicopee Comp, falling 21-10. Blue Devils fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Colts since on Monday.

Pittsfield's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 11.7 runs thus far. As for Northampton, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything went Pittsfield's way against Northampton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Pittsfield made off with an 11-0 victory. Do the Generals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
