Baseball Game Preview: Orion Chargers vs. Geneseo Maple Leafs

Orion is 1-7 against Geneseo since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Orion will be playing in front of their home fans against Geneseo at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Orion is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Bushnell-Prairie City with a sharp 18-2 victory on Thursday. With that win, the Chargers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Bryan Peterson and Griffen Tennant made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Peterson didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Tennant tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Peterson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, while Tennant scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Orion got a massive performance out of Ethan Hamerlinck, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Larson, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.

Orion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bushnell-Prairie City only posted an OBP of .105.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Geneseo and Quincy, and Geneseo kept the tradition alive. Geneseo's pitchers stepped up to hand Quincy a 15-0 shutout on Monday.

Orion's victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. As for Geneseo, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
