Recap: Johnson Atomsmashers vs. Savannah Country Day Hornets
The Johnson Atomsmashers fell victim to the Savannah Country Day Hornets''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the Hornets at home and fell 30-0. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Johnson in their matchups with Savannah Country Day: they've now lost six in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Savannah Country Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Barton Mixon, who threw for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Hyers Holland, who rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Johnson has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Savannah Country Day, their win was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 6-3.
Johnson will square off against Long County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Savannah Country Day, they will be playing at home against Groves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Groves has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since September 1.
