Basketball Recap: Warren Comes Up Short

Warren was the 50-33 winner over Fairfield Union when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Warren Warriors fell to the Fairfield Union Falcons 32-28. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Falcons are ranked 26th).

Despite the defeat, Warren saw an underclassman step up: sophomore DeLaney Gates posted 11 points and three steals. That's the most points Gates has posted since back in January of 2024.

Warren's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Fairfield Union, they pushed their record up to 18-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.

When Warren and Fairfield Union next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Warren will face off against Minford and their eight-game winning streak at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Fairfield Union will try to stop Circleville's ten-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
