Basketball Recap: Combs Takes a Loss

Combs lost against ALA - Queen Creek back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Combs Coyotes were beaten by the ALA - Queen Creek Patriots 79-49.

Combs lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jaimin Amador, who went 7-for-14 en route to 16 points and five boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Quinmetris Cunningham, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Combs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

ALA - Queen Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacob Ouimet led the charge by going 6-for-9 from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points and five boards. Ouimet continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Austin Fullmer was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine assists.

Combs' record is now 12-11. As for ALA - Queen Creek, their win bumped their record up to 14-8.

Combs didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-50 defeat against Eastmark on the 6th. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they have also already played their next game, a 59-50 victory against Poston Butte on the 6th.
