Softball Game Preview: West Jefferson Panthers vs. New Plymouth Pilgrims

The West Jefferson Panthers will head out to challenge the New Plymouth Pilgrims at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. West Jefferson has given up an average of 24 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West Jefferson managed to slip by Melba the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Panthers came up short against the Mustangs on Friday, falling 17-2. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last eight contests, New Plymouth finally came back down to earth on Friday. They fell just short of Nampa Christian by a score of 3-1. The Pilgrims' loss signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.

New Plymouth saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kadence Withers, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Withers has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

West Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for New Plymouth, the loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 9-3.

West Jefferson skirted past New Plymouth 9-8 in their previous meeting back in May of 2019. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pilgrims turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
