Baseball Recap: Nova Classical Academy Wins Going Away Against St. Agnes

Nova Classical Academy hadn't done well against St. Agnes recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Aggies. The Knights not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 14th (when they won 27-5).

James Williams and Will Choi made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Williams tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Choi tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Nova Classical Academy is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-7 otherwise. At bat, Williams went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Choi went 4-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and two stolen bases. That's the most hits Choi has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Nova Classical Academy let Preston Karelitz and Quintus Graff run wild. Karelitz went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Graff got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI and one stolen base. Karelitz continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mikko Newman, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Nova Classical Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .542. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Agnes only posted an OBP of .273.

The win made it two in a row for Nova Classical Academy and bumps their season record up to 6-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for St. Agnes, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-8.

Coming up, Nova Classical Academy will head out on the road to take on Mounds Park Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Agnes, they will be playing at home against Holy Family Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
