Baseball Game Preview: Cass Colonels vs. Allatoona Buccaneers

The Cass Colonels will venture away from home to square off against the Allatoona Buccaneers at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Cass sitting on three straight wins and Allatoona on ten.

On Friday, Cass got the win against Southeast Whitfield County by a conclusive 14-4. The Colonels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Allatoona and Dalton, and Allatoona kept the tradition alive. Allatoona walked away with a 6-3 victory over Dalton on Friday.

Cruz Paul made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other pitching news, Allatoona got a great performance from Davis Bargeron as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. What's more, Bargeron gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in February.

Paul wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Jenkins, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Allatoona pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cass, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
