Basketball Game Preview: Grafton Clippers vs. Heritage Hurricanes

The Grafton Clippers just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Heritage Hurricanes at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Grafton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63 points per game this season.

On Friday, Grafton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 67-62 to New Kent. While losing is never fun, the Clippers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while the Trojans are ranked 19th).

Grafton might have lost, but man, Jakobe Brownlee was a machine: he went 9 for 11 on his way to 24 points. Brownlee's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Santiago, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Heritage ended up a good deal behind Hampton on Thursday and lost 66-49. The Hurricanes have struggled against the Crabbers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Heritage now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Grafton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
