Baseball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Alec O'sullivan and Jayden Soto Lead Cornerstone Christian to Victory

Cornerstone Christian lost a heartbreaker the last time they played California Lutheran, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. The Cornerstone Christian Crusaders' pitchers stepped up to hand the California Lutheran C-Hawks a 16-0 shutout on Friday. The Crusaders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.

Jayden Soto and Alec O'Sullivan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Soto pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, O'Sullivan didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Cornerstone Christian is undefeated when Soto allowstwo or fewer hits, but 2-3 otherwise. At bat, Soto scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while O'Sullivan scored two runs and stole Two bases. That's the most runs Soto has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Jonus Lance was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Cornerstone Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlee Kylis, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

Cornerstone Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Cornerstone Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for California Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 5-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Christian will welcome Calvary Baptist at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for California Lutheran, they will look to defend their home field on March 21st against Entrepreneur at 3:15 p.m.
