Basketball Recap: Shaw Drops Season-High Score on Northside

Shaw proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 20) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 73-70 victory over the Northside Patriots. The Raiders' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Shaw got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alenzo Talley out in front who posted 22 points along with seven boards and five steals. Those seven rebounds gave Talley a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion Jones, who had 18 points.

The victory (which was Shaw's third in a row) raised their record to 4-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points over those games. As for Northside, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shaw and Marion County will compete for holiday cheer at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Northside will take on Griffin in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
