Softball Recap: Clark Comes Up Short

Clark lost against East Central back in May of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Clark Cougars came up short against the East Central Hornets, falling 11-3.

Heaven Villarreal was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. She also scored a run, marking her first of the season. Ryan Liegl was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Even though they lost, Clark hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Clark's record is now 1-8. As for East Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Clark will be taking part in a tournament against Antonian Prep at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Clark has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for East Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alexander at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
