Middletown (Md.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 10 points, drop to seven before the final whistle blew on a 10-3 victory over
Patuxent (Lusby, Md.).
After taking the lead on a field goal by
Nick Welch in the first quarter, the Knights were up 10-0 at the half.
Middletown saw its 10-point halftime lead fall to seven entering the fourth.
The loss snapped Patuxent's 13-game winning streak.
MHS came into the game allowing 7.4 points per game. The three points that the Panthers ended with were well below their average of 35.3 coming into the game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Patuxent, which notched a 42-8 victory over Patterson in its previous outing.
