Football Recap: Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy Comes Up Short on the Road Against Garinger + How To Watch

Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 36-6 loss at the hands of the Garinger Wildcats. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it nine in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy lost, don't look at Tim Smith. Despite the final result, he rushed for 85 yards on only eight carries, and also threw for 105 yards and one touchdown.

Garinger found their leader in sophomore Zykerion Pharr, who rushed for 189 yards and three TDs on only nine carries. Pharr's longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy will challenge Carver at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Garinger, they will take on Lake Norman Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
