Baseball Recap: Talawanda Takes a Loss

Talawanda fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Harrison on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2. The Brave's defeat continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Nathaniel Iden was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Iden wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Wright, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double. Eddie Tanner was another, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Talawanda's loss dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Harrison, the win keeps they at an undefeated 8-0.

Coming up, Talawanda will face off against Eaton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harrison, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mason at 5:00 p.m. on the 16th.
