There's no place like home for Tomball Memorial, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. Everything went their way against the Magnolia West Mustangs on Tuesday as they made off with a 9-2 win. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Mustangs back in March, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

Lauren Coombs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tomball Memorial saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Coombs, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another was Lacey Matheson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Tomball Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Magnolia West, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Tomball Memorial is set to square off against their familiar foe Klein at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Magnolia West will face off against rival Magnolia at 6:15 p.m. on Friday.
