Softball Recap: Barberton Comes Up Short

Barberton had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-11 to make it four. They fell just short of the Cuyahoga Falls Black Tigers by a score of 8-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Magics of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Liz Scott made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

As for Cuyahoga Falls, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 14th.

On Cuyahoga Falls' side, Ary Sayarath made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Sayarath was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Ava Waite and Madi Davis did most of the damage at the plate: Waite went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Davis went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. MJ Mastrodonato was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, Barberton will face off against Woodridge at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Magics are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cuyahoga Falls, they will take on Highland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.31 runs per game on average), something the Black Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
