Recap: Union City Indians vs. Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks
The Union City Indians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Mississinawa Valley by a score of 54-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Union City has suffered since December 2, 2023.
Despite the loss, Union City still got an impressive performance from Luane Schoonbroodt, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 49% of Union City's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Oaklee Reichard, who scored 15 points.
Union City has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season. As for Mississinawa Valley, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
Union City will head out on the road to face off against Hagerstown at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hagerstown is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Mississinawa Valley, they will be playing at home against Bradford at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bradford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 711th, while Mississinawa Valley is ranked 215th).
