Preview: Robstown Cottonpickers vs. Ingleside Mustangs

Robstown is 1-6 against Ingleside since August of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Robstown Cottonpickers will be playing at home against the Ingleside Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Thursday, Robstown made easy work of West Oso and carried off a 34-13 victory.

Robstown's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Edward Diaz, who rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Derek Silva was another key contributor, rushing for 34 yards and a touchdown.

Robstown's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Kasey Soto and his two sacks.

Meanwhile, Ingleside put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past West Oso, posting a 61-13 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Ingleside, who have now won six matchups by 29 points or more so far this season.

Aidan Jakobsohn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 241 yards and four touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Jakobsohn is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaydon Smith, who picked up 98 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Their wins bumped Robstown to 3-5 and Ingleside to 7-0.

Robstown was taken down by Ingleside 65-28 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Robstown have more luck at home instead of on the road?
