Basketball Game Preview: Saint James Saints vs. Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers

The Saint James Saints will head out on the road to square off against the Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Saint James has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 14.

Saint James is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Maret, who was ranked 12th in their home state at the time (Saint James was ranked 20th). Saint James took a hard 63-48 fall against Maret on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Georgetown Day played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Potomac School, falling 77-52. The Mighty Hoppers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-24.

Georgetown Day dropped their record down to 3-9 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Saint James, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.

Everything went Saint James' way against Georgetown Day in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as Saint James made off with a 63-42 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Saint James since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
