Recap: Independence 76ers vs. Oak Grove Eagles
The Independence 76ers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight loss. They took a hard 44-26 fall against Oak Grove. That's two games in a row now that Independence has lost by exactly 18 points.
Independence lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Joshua Villanueva, who scored ten points. William Chattmon was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Independence has been struggling recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Oak Grove, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-9.
Independence will face off against Santa Teresa at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Santa Teresa knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 19 games -- so hopefully Independence likes a good challenge. As for Oak Grove, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Leigh at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Leigh's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
