Baseball Game Preview: Seaholm Maples vs. Southfield Arts & Tech Warriors

For the second straight game, Seaholm will face off against Southfield Arts & Tech. The Maples will square off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Seaholm knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Southfield Arts & Tech likes a good challenge.

Seaholm's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Southfield Arts & Tech. The result was nothing new for the Maples, who have now won 14 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ryan Pfeiffer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nick Davis, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Brandon Gottesman also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Seaholm hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.

Seaholm's record now sits at 16-4. As for Southfield Arts & Tech, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.
