Softball Recap: Scott City's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Scott City had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Advance Hornets on Tuesday, sneaking past 11-10. This was payback for the Rams, who suffered a 4-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brianna Mills spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and six unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Huckstep, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyvia Karrenbrock, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Advance, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scott City will host Marion at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for Advance, they will welcome Scott County Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
