Softball Game Preview: Hernando Tigers vs. Tupelo Golden Wave

For the second straight game, Hernando will face off against Tupelo. The Tigers will challenge the Golden Wave at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hernando has seven straight victories, Tupelo has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Hernando is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over Tupelo. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Kate Johnson looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Macie Dever Boaz was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Olivia Higginbotham was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Tupelo's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Hernando, their win bumped their record up to 28-1.
