Basketball Game Preview: Covington Owls vs. Morgan Eagles

Covington hasn't had much luck against Morgan recently, but that could start to change on Friday. It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Covington Owls face off against the Morgan Eagles at 7:15 p.m. Covington will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Covington strolled past Blum with points to spare, taking the game 59-43. The Owls pushed the score to 50-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bobcats cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, Morgan was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were dealt a 60-20 defeat at the hands of Avalon. The match marked Morgan's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Covington pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Morgan, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Covington came up short against Morgan in their previous matchup back in February, falling 61-56. Can Covington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
