Softball Game Preview: Spring Creek Spartans vs. Churchill County Greenwave

Spring Creek hasn't had much luck against Churchill County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Greenwave at 3:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Spring Creek is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Saturday. They came up short against Fernley, falling 14-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Spartans' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Spring Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was MacKenzie Morfin, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Churchill County faced Lowry in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Greenwave lost 12-2 to the Buckaroos. The Greenwave haven't had much luck with the Buckaroos recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Sutton Yost was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

Spring Creek's loss dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Churchill County, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.

Spring Creek suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Churchill County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
