Basketball Game Preview: Strasburg Rams vs. Madison County Mountaineers

The Strasburg Rams will head out to take on the Madison County Mountaineers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Strasburg is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Clarke County just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a blow against the Eagles, falling 67-40.

Meanwhile, Madison County didn't have quite enough to beat Luray on Tuesday and fell 31-29.

Strasburg's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-5. As for Madison County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Strasburg against Madison County when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 56-27 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Strasburg since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
