Basketball Recap: Mogollon Mustangs vs. Music Mountain Warriors
After flying high against Ash Fork back in December of 2024, Mogollon came back down to earth. The Mogollon Mustangs were outmatched by the Music Mountain Warriors and fell 77-49. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 56-54.
Mogollon lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Eric Starks, who posted 11 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Quinn Tenney, who put up five points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Mogollon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.
Music Mountain was led to victory by Micah Quasula and Lonewolf Havatone. Quasula went 11 of 19 on his way to 27 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals, while Havatone dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. Quasula is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyren Havatone, who had eight points and six boards.
Mogollon has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Music Mountain, their victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-6.
Mogollon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 72-34 loss against Thatcher on the 2nd. As for Music Mountain, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-38 defeat against Empire on the 2nd.
