Football Recap: Mitchell Marauders vs. La Junta Tigers
Mitchell won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were beaten by the La Junta Tigers 74-7. The Marauders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-7.
La Junta can attribute much of their success to Rylan Schmidt, who rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 17 yards and a touchdown.
Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for La Junta, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Mitchell will welcome The Pinnacle at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for La Junta, they will head out on the road to face off against Strasburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
