Baseball Game Preview: Queen Anne's County Lions vs. Kent County Trojans

The Queen Anne's County Lions will challenge the Kent County Trojans at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither Queen Anne's County nor Kent County posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Queen Anne's County fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Parkside on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 3-2. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Nathan Procopio spent all 8.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Queen Anne's County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Clough, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

Meanwhile, Kent County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 10-2 to Kent Island. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by exactly eight runs.

Kent County's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Queen Anne's County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
