Football Recap: Enka Takes a Loss

Enka might've scored the first points on Friday, but it was Hayesville who claimed the real prize. The Jets were just a hair shy of victory and fell 21-20 to the Yellowjackets. While the Jets had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Yellowjackets 13-7.

When it comes to explaining why Enka lost, don't look at Logan Trantham. Despite the final result, he rushed for 34 yards and two TDs, and also threw for 112 yards and one touchdown.

Tre Graves had an outrageously good game for Hayesville as he rushed for 176 yards and three scores while picking up 9.8 yards per carry.

This is the second loss in a row for Enka and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Hayesville, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Enka will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Pisgah at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hayesville, they will venture away from home to take on Copper Basin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
