Baseball Recap: West Chicago Finds Home Field Redemption Against Ridgewood

There's no place like home for West Chicago, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Ridgewood Rebels 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Rebels on Monday, they had to take a 1-0 loss.

Sam Zalak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Manny Figueroa was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Zach Williamson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

West Chicago's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Ridgewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10-1.

Coming up, West Chicago is taking a road trip to challenge Streamwood at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ridgewood, they will face off against West Aurora at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
