On Monday Destiny Serna struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). The effort also marked the fewest walks (one) Serna has had since back in March. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was her seventh in a row with more than six strikeouts. This season, she has an ERA of 2.67 over 57.7 innings pitched.

Looking ahead, Serna and Independence will take on Tulare Union in a tournament on Monday. The Tribe will enter the matchup having just beaten Shafter, so the Falcons will have to guard against a team looking to keep the ball rolling.
