Baseball Game Preview: Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin Lions vs. Elyria Catholic Panthers

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Elyria Catholic Panthers at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Elyria Catholic has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin barely beat Austintown-Fitch the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Lions put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 9-2 win on Friday.

Lucas Marlowe was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Marlowe was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin got a great performance from Aiden McCord as he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched.

Back at the plate, Cian O'Boyle was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those RBI were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie O'Dale, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Elyria Catholic didn't have quite enough to beat Benedictine on Thursday and fell 4-3.

Elyria Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
