Soccer Game Preview: Bishop England vs. May River

The Bishop England Battling Bishops will square off against the May River Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

May River will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Bishop England extended their winning streak to eight on Tuesday. The Battling Bishops were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over Beaufort. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Bishop England's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Beaufort are ranked 61st).

Bishop England hit Beaufort with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Sophia DeMarco (2), Ava Delpino, and Elizabeth Brady.

Meanwhile, May River kept a clean sheet against Colleton County on Tuesday. They blew past the Cougars 9-0. May River haven't had any issues with Colleton County recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Bishop England pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 25 goals over those six contests. As for May River, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Everything went Bishop England's way against May River in their previous meeting back in March, as Bishop England made off with a 5-1 win. Will the Battling Bishops repeat their success, or do the Sharks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
