Baseball Recap: St. John Paul II Takes a Loss

St. John Paul II's last matchup with Decatur Heritage Christian Academy could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. St. John Paul II lost 17-7 to Decatur Heritage Christian Academy. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-4 last Thursday.

Joey Ross made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Smotrys, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

St. John Paul II's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Looking ahead, St. John Paul II will venture away from home to square off against Section at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, they will challenge Westminster Christian Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Decatur Heritage Christian Academy is facing Westminster Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Westminster Christian Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
