Basketball Recap: Jayden Rodrigues and Aldin Bubic Secure Win for Oakmont

Oakmont won the last time they faced Center and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Oakmont Vikings strolled past the Center Cougars with points to spare, taking the game 69-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Oakmont was led to victory by Aldin Bubic and Jayden Rodrigues. Bubic dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards, while Rodrigues went 7 of 15 en route to 17 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Rodrigues a new career-high in points. Daiveon Parker was another key player, putting up ten points.

Oakmont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nathan Nelson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Nelson has been hot, having posted ten or more boards the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy McLear, who posted 12 points and five rebounds.

Oakmont is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Center, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 8-10.

Oakmont wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 70-60 win against Bear River on the 17th. As for Center, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-58 defeat against Colfax on the 17th.
