Basketball Game Preview: Belen Eagles vs. Valencia Jaguars

Belen is 0-10 against Valencia since February of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Belen Eagles will host the Valencia Jaguars at 7:00 p.m.

Belen is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Friday. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-39 heartbreaker at the hands of Grants.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valencia). They took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging a 66-21 win over Chaparral. Winning may never get old, but the Jaguars sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Valencia's win came from a few key players Belen will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jadyn Montoya, who posted 15 points in addition to five assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Montgomery, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Belen's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Valencia, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Belen might still be hurting after the 53-32 loss they got from Valencia in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Montoya, who put up 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
