Baseball Recap: Tri Wins Going Away Against South Decatur

With a playoff win on the line, Tri rose to the challenge on Thursday. They came out on top against the South Decatur Cougars by a score of 10-5. The match marked the Titans' most dominant victory of the season.

Karter Lunsford made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Lunsford was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Masyn Chalfant was excellent, earning two runs and three stolen bases. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was James Burke, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

The win snapped Tri's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-18-1 record. As for South Decatur, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Tri nor South Decatur have any future games scheduled.
