Basketball Game Preview: Riverdale Baptist Crusaders vs. Evergreen Christian Eagles

The Riverdale Baptist Crusaders are taking a road trip to face off against the Evergreen Christian Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

As a matter of fact, Riverdale Baptist put up the most points they have all season on Saturday. They put the hurt on Salesianum with a sharp 93-69 win. The Crusaders pushed the score to 75-44 by the end of the third, a deficit the Sallies cut but never quite recovered from.

Riverdale Baptist relied on the efforts of Ean McLaughlin, who shot 67% from beyond the arc to rack up 25 points and six rebounds, and Dez Ainsworth, who went 8-for-14 on his way to 22 points along with five boards and three steals. McLaughlin's morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Derrick 'DJ' Robinson, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Riverdale Baptist was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Evergreen Christian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with an 88-81 victory over Seton on Saturday.

The win made it two in a row for Riverdale Baptist and bumps their season record up to 5-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 86.5 points over those games. As for Evergreen Christian, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Riverdale Baptist was able to grind out a solid win over Evergreen Christian in their previous meeting back in February, winning 78-67. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Eagles' Jackson Britt, who went 8-for-19 en route to 23 points and seven rebounds.
