Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Shelby's Third in Last Four Outings

If Highland Tech wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Shelby, they should've done a better job of containing Dereon Kee. The Shelby Golden Lions strolled past the Highland Tech Rams with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 45-30 thanks in part to Kee, who posted 19 points and six steals. The match was her third in a row with at least ten points.

Jamiah Hopper was another key player, putting up two points in addition to ten rebounds, five assists, and five steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in assists.

Shelby is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Highland Tech, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shelby will host Bessemer City at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Highland Tech, they will welcome Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Highland Tech surely won't give up without a fight.
