Recap: Southwest Eagles vs. Coral Gables Cavaliers
The Southwest Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight loss. They took a 24-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of Coral Gables. Southwest lost against Coral Gables in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 32-6 score last time.
Antwan Delancy and Deandre Pique certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Delancy picked up 164 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Pique threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns. Delancy was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 66 yards.
Southwest's loss was their 11th straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-1 Ferguson and 8-1 Homestead (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.1% over those games). As for Coral Gables, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
Southwest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Coral Gables also has no future games currently scheduled.
