Baseball Recap: Sardis Comes Up Short

Sardis fell victim to Oxford and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Yellow Jackets, falling 8-0. The Lions just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Sardis saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Weaver, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double was Weaver's first of the season.

Sardis' loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Oxford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. We've got a battle between Lions coming up. As for Oxford, they will host Shades Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Shades Valley has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.68 runs per game on average), something Oxford will no doubt try to take advantage of.
