Volleyball Recap: Valley Vikings vs. Bernalillo Spartans
If Bernalillo wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Valley, they should've done a better job of containing Reese Villanueva. The Valley Vikings put the hurt on the Bernalillo Spartans with a sharp 3-0 victory on Friday thanks in part to Villanueva, who had 11 digs and six aces. Those six aces gave her a new career-high.
Valley never let Bernalillo on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-16, 25-17.
Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bernalillo only served five.
Despite the loss, Bernalillo still got an impressive performance from Haley Armijo, who had 22 digs. Armijo has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more digs the last three times she's played.
The win made it two in a row for Valley and bumps their season record up to 14-9. As for Bernalillo, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.
Valley will square off against Goddard at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Bernalillo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
