The Omaha Central Eagles will take on the Bellevue East Chieftains at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Omaha Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Omaha Central barely beat South Sioux City the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the game before.
Grant Hamill looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Ethan Ferguson and Joe Dougherty did most of the damage at the plate: Ferguson got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs, while Dougherty got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave Dougherty a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Demman, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Omaha Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Bellevue East was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Burke.
Bellevue East also got a good showing from Christian Lester, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits Lester has allowed over his last four contests.
On the hitting side, Ethan Greenwell was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Bellevue East is 3-1 when Greenwell posts three or more hits, but 8-18 otherwise. Jackson Myers was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.
Omaha Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-14 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bellevue East, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-19.
Omaha Central took their win against Bellevue East when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chieftains turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
