Basketball Game Preview: Eureka Loggers vs. McKinleyville Panthers

The Eureka Loggers will venture away from home to take on the McKinleyville Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Eureka knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully McKinleyville likes a good challenge.

Last Thursday, Eureka ended up a good deal behind Arcata and lost 72-56. While losing is never fun, the Loggers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 350th, while the Tigers are ranked 162nd).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when McKinleyville took on Arcata on Tuesday. McKinleyville fell 56-47 to Arcata. It was the first time this season that the Panthers let down their fans at home.

Eureka's loss dropped their record down to 17-9. As for McKinleyville, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 18-8.

Eureka and McKinleyville were neck-and-neck when the teams last played two weeks ago, but Eureka came up empty-handed after a 49-48 loss. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of McKinleyville's Bode Douglass, who shot 5-for-9 from deep and dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. Now that Eureka knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
