Webber extended their winning streak to eight on Saturday, bumping them up to 8-1. Everything went their way against the Alexander Trojans as they made off with an 18-6 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.
Arnie Sturtevant made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braelynn Dillenbeck, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Brooke Robinson was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Webber kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
As for Alexander, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5. They haven't had much luck with Webber recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
On Alexander's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Kautz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Kautz has hit this season. Another was Claudia Ripstein, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Webber is set to square off against their familiar foe Byron-Bergen at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Alexander will face off against rival Holley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
