Softball Recap: Elkins Extends Winning Streak to Four

Elkins had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Greenland on Thursday. The Elks blew past the Pirates 11-2. Considering the Elks have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The win (which was Elkins' fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Greenland, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-6.

Looking ahead, Elkins will host Huntsville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Elks' favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Eagles have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. As for Greenland, they will head out to take on West Fork at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
