Softball Recap: Kermit Has No Trouble Against Presidio

Kermit hadn't done well against Presidio recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Kermit put the hurt on Presidio with a sharp 19-4 victory. The Yellow Jackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.

Aliha Saenz made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off only one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off three home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-5. Those three home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hadley Hardaway was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Azlene Valencia, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Kermit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive games.

The win got Kermit back to even at 9-9. As for Presidio, they dropped their record down to 2-12 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Kermit didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-1 defeat against Alpine on the 28th. Presidio has also already played their next contest (against Anthony), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
